With Bletchley Park and Alan Turing so much in the news lately, and of course Hut 6 won the Hut category of this years Shed of the Year 2009 competition.
So its timely to remind people that its not funded by the government in anyway and needs your support to save such a big part of British War time history and the future of computers, so every qeek, freedom lover or just history buff should be giving money to The Bletchley Park Trust, readersheds has given a lowly £20 but it’s a start.
Do you think The Bletchley Park Trust would make a good Charity for Shed Week 2010? I know it’s different from the dogtrust we supported last year, but it’s a good cause that is shed related (in a way)
Of course if you have a great Hut that can match Hut 6 then why not share it for Shed of the year 2010.
I think it has to be *the* charity to support – what other collection of sheds has had such a historical impact as these?
The full weight of Shedworking would be behind this too – add HP and Apple to that list of IT folk who started in a shedlike atmosphere.
Absolutely – was banging on about setting up a #savebletchleypark hash tag and convincing the likes of Google/Microsoft to dropping some cash into it – it's right up the shed community street this.
I will contact the people at Bletchley Park and see if they mind us supporting them for Shed Week 2010..
Brilliant idea. Bletchley Park is the pinnacle of shed achievement. Truly worth supporting.
Agreed – Bletchley's sheds are still full of chaps pottering around tinkering with radio equipment and lovely old gadgets 70 years ond – they are the best sheds in the world!
I think The Bletchley Park Trust would be a FANTASTIC charity to support
