But now a gardening magazine down that way is running a shed of the year like competition, so if you are a Kiwi, give it a go… of course add your shed to readersheds as well 😉

New Zealand Gardener magazine is on the hunt for New Zealand’s greatest shed – and there’s $8000 worth of prizes to be won.

Editor Jo McCarroll says the magazine is looking for the country’s most outrageously over-the-top dream sheds – as well as quirky chook houses and the most innovative garden-building-on-a-budget.

The winner will receive the ultimate shed accessory – a Husqvarna Lawn Tractor
worth $5499 – and two runners up will receive a pack of grunty shed essentials worth
more than $1000.

To enter, just send a written description of your shed plus up to five photos to [email protected] with garden shed competition in the subject line.

“The competition is open to New Zealand sheds only, I’m afraid,” Jo says. “I have been admiring some of the UK’s finest sheds on readersheds.co.uk but I am fairly confident my countrymen will match the high standard set here, fairly easily. Given the intrepid, can-do nature of Kiwi men and their natural inclination for shed-related pursuits, I suspect New Zealand are a hitherto unacknowledged shed superpower, much like we proved to be at soccer.”
