Over the years we have loved to see some great musical tributes during Shed Week (Punks) but this year I think we will be getting an extra special treat.
Sheddie Jon has been in contact with me with this great news for this years Shed Week (starting July 4th 2011 if you did not know)
Songs From The Shed are recording 7 special sessions, a song a day, to be released during shed week. They have already recorded 3 songs and have another 4 artists ready to be recorded . They are keeping the names of the artists close to their chest but assure us that there is an eclectic mixture of styles and artists including some well known names and some carefully selected up and coming acts in the collection and we can’t wait to see who they are.
Songs From The Shed has a reputation for springing surprises and has already recorded sessions with David Rotheray (Beautiful South), Steve Harley, Roddy Woomble (Idlewild) Jackie Oates and Jim Causley (BBC Folk Award Winners) amongst many other acts from all over the world including The Young Republic, The Water Tower Bucket Boys ,Paul Curerri ,The Wilders Micah P Hinson And Curtis Eller
Jon Earl who runs the site believes that half the fun of the site is never knowing who is going to pop up next and all he will tell us is that he has several household names booked and a list of artists from all genres queuing to play a session in his garden shed.
So I hope like me you are looking forward to a musical interlude during the shed based madness of shedweek.
