I was going to stay away from blogging about the ‘lympics and leave that to the other shed blog – but this photo on the Guardian hit home
You may remember a long while back there was a campaign to save the Manor Garden Allotments – which of course failed, well the plots and sheds of this great community was demolished to put up a fast food joint 🙁
anyway you can view the other shots of
London’s Olympic Park – before and after
As the 2012 Olympic Games get under way at last, see the transformation of the area around Stratford, east London, in the seven years since London won the bid to host the Games, by clicking on the vertical slider in the middle of the image and moving it left or right
BTW Iam going to watch the opening ceremony tonight only because Mud – tiger feet was leaked on the telly last night as one of the performances – but will still be thinking of the sheds on Manor Garden Allotments 🙂
This is a case of creative journalism. Compare the location of the Manor Gardens site (http://www.lifeisland.org/?page_id=2#y=51548470&x=-17681&z=16&l=0&m=a&v=2) with aerial photography of the olympic park (http://goo.gl/maps/7VweS). The allotments are gone, but it hasn’t been built on. Definitely not by McDonalds.
Barry Thanks for pointing that out…. that makes it worse that the space has not been used..
