Headgardener from Arron Kuiper

The brilliant ILovesTheDiff tweeted some of the work from this years Cardiff Open 2014 Exhibition.

but it was this one that caught my eye

Amazing 3D painting ‘Head Gardener’ (of course) by Cardiff-based Arron Kuiper

Arron Kuiper
I am a Welsh artist based in Cardiff and am pioneering a revolutionary new technique of three dimensional painting I call ‘Gel’. Gel is a technique utilising the chemical properties of oil paint and hydrogel to produce a three-dimensional painting inside a transparent vessel. The paint is implanted into the gel and remains exactly where it is placed, as if one were able to create forms from brushstrokes in mid-air.

you have until 1 November to see it.

Cardiff Open acts as a platform for showcasing the best contemporary art practice from an open call of submissions, alongside site-specific work from selected artists in residence. The work of Cardiff and Vale based artists, photographers, ceramicists, sculptors, designers and makers will be on show – from the young and emerging to the established and respected – in the bustling area of Roath.
